Yes, I know, I've been slacking.  Some weeks you have the time and inclination, and some weeks you just don't.  I'll have something for next weekend.

Thursday, November 15, 2012

This weekend, 11/16-11/18:

Totally off-topic, but... does anyone else have a spouse whose mother calls them (for no particular reason) 3 times before 11:30 am?   Chill out, woman!

P.S. - I'm not putting out a Monday-Thursday list this week.  You all have your Thanksgiving week plans set; you don't need me to give you tips.  See you next Friday.

Featuring: Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized, Supremia, Insatanity ... oh good lord, I can't keep typing these names with a straight face.  Suffice it to say there are about 7 more of them.   I will say, though - it looks like most of these bands are from NY, Boston, and elsewhere out of state, so they should put on a pretty stage-ready show, at least, if this is your thing. 4pm-1am, $11-$13. More info.
~In Philly~

  • Paul Banks (lead singer of Interpol) at the Trocadero. $15-$17. Like a lot of people, I loved Interpol's debut album, liked their sophomore album well enough, and disliked their third album.  I wonder what Paul Banks' role in the songwriting of those albums was.  Interpol is definitely a prime example of a band that did their best writing before fame struck.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

I'm going to have to skip the weekday events list this week.

A relative's beach cottage in Bethany sustained a lot of damage so I have to help clean that up, and I do election work.  It will be all I can do to get out next weekend's list.

It doesn't look to me like there is a ton going on this week, anyway, but here are some of the websites that I visit in getting my list out, if you want to look yourself:

(Mojo 13 doesn't have an operational calendar, so I use a pretty circuitous method to find out what's going on there).

  • And my biggest shortcut: The Swollen Fox Philadelphia Concert Calendar. I used to visit each Philly venue's calendar, one at a time, until I realized that the Swollen Fox blog already does that.  So, um, thanks guys for letting me just cherry-pick from your list?  No really, I'd never have time to feature any Philly shows if I did things the way I used to: http://theswollenfox.com/philadelphia-concert-calendar/
