  • Party (costume ball): The Fringe Wilmington Halloween Costume Ball is taking place at the Del. Center for Contemporary Arts. Costume contest, live music by The Mooveez, flashlight gallery tours, crystal ball, magic, and more. 9-midnight, only $10, cash bar. FB event page.
  • Party (burlesque): The Peek-A-Booo Halloween Revue is at World Cafe Live at the Queen.  Plus costume contest. $20. More info.

  • Theatre: Part of Fringe Festival Wilmington, there will be a solo show by musician and performer Andrew Potter at 2 East 4th St., the Lincoln Square Green. This solo show will be based on the author's experiences in a traveling juggling comedy duo in the 70's and 80's. 8pm.  (Included by request - I love requests.   • Dance: Fringe Wilmington presents dance performance "Broken", at the Music School of Delaware. "Broken is a choreographic analysis of present-day American society. Through the artistry of dance, Pieces of a Dream, Inc. invites the viewer to consider his personal relationship to our current socio-political climate." 6pm, $5.
  • At Union Transfer: local-boys-made-good Man Man, King Khan & the Shrines, Melt-Banana, and Hell Shovel.  $15.

  • Aoife ("EE-fuh") O'Donovan, a folk/bluegrass singer who I wouldn't know at all except I saw her just yesterday on a truly amazing Tiny Desk Concert segment with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile, is performing at the Grand Opera House.   • Travel Band and locals Splashing Pearls play WCL at the Queen.
  • Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas also play the WCL at the Queen.
  • Tony Travalini and the Still Lifes do a free early show (7pm) at Mojo Main.
  • Lush Farm, a "grunge-ish" indie rock band from Baltimore, headline the late show at Mojo Main, with at least 2 openers. $5.

  • Night Panther and Literature play The Deli's 5th Anniversary Bash at PhilaMOCA.
  • It's the River City Festival at Penn Treaty Park, it's free, and it features the very high-quality line-up of: Vacationer, American Babies, Cheers Elephant, and John Francis and the Midnight Choir.
  • Levee Drivers play the Fire. $5.
  • Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers play the Blockley. Opening is the Dirty Pearls, not to be confused with Splashing Pearls, Pearl & the Beard, or the Dirty Three (I could seriously play the 'connect the band name' game all day).
  • The Goblin (who scored the cult-favorite 70s Italian horror movies of Dario Argenti like Tenebre and Suspiria) show at Underground Arts has long been sold out, but they just announced a show at the Trocadero in December.

Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thiele and Aoife O'Donovan (the last of whom will be at the Grand on Friday) do a Tiny Desk Concert taping for NPR, and it is the best and most unique one I've ever seen.
