General Events:
  • "Clay Date", back by popular demand at the Delaware Art Museum.  Bring a date, throw some pots or phallic symbols or something.  $30-$35, light snacks and alcohol provided. 7-9pm, sign up here: 302.571.9590
  • Arden Shakespeare Gild presents Henry IV, part 1, at the field theater in Arden. 7:30-10:30, $10 ($5 for kids).
  • Carousel Park Farmers Market (Rt. 7 in Pike Creek), Fridays 2-6pm. Thru late Sept.
  • Kennett Square Farmers Market. At the main intersection in Kennett. Fridays, 2-6pm.
  • Showings of The Matchmaker and Lost Bohemia at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
  • PA Burlesque Festival at the TLA, featuring "The Burlesque Gala".
Concerts:
  • Lower Case Blues at Mojo Main.
  • Jeffrey Gaines at the Tin Angel.
  • Japandroids at Johnny Brenda's, with Cadence Weapon.
  • Kuf Knotz with Fathead (full band reunited) at the North Star Bar.
  • Jesse Malin at Milkboy Philly.
  • Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper at the Susquehanna Center.
  • Classical fans: Philadelphia Orchestra plays an all Tchaikovsky bill at the Mann.

SATURDAY 6/30:

General Events:
  • 2nd annual Wilmington Pirate Festival at Tubman-Garrett park on the riverfront. 11am-5pm, free.  Live bands (details below in the concert section), food, pirate activities.  But remember, kids: only the captain can say "Aargh".
  • Arden Shakespeare Gild presents Henry IV, part 1, at the field theater in Arden. 7:30-10:30, $10 ($5 for kids).
  • Saturday bluegrass jams at Woodside Creamery near Hockessin/Pike Creek. 1-5pm each Saturday, weather permitting.  Free.
  • Beach: Lewes Farmers Market, 8-noon. In historic area, thru late Sept.
  • Showings of The Matchmaker and Lost Bohemia at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
  • PA Burlesque Festival at the TLA, featuring "The Big Reveal".
Concerts:
  • New Sweden plays the Pirate Festival at 1pm, and it's a free show.  Otherwise, it looks like the other bands are kind of kid-oriented?  They're called Pirates for Sail, Three Sheets and the Wind, and Scales and Crosstones, and each of them are playing twice throughout the day. 
  • Later on that night, New Sweden plays The Note in West Chester.
  • Rock show at Spaceboy Clothing on LOMA: No Such Noise! (ska from NJ), Tolstoy Place (DE), Rushmore (NJ), and Last Scene in Reno (PA). 6-9pm, all ages, $5.
  • US Rails at the Queen Theatre. Also playing a different show there: The Chris Robinson Brotherhood.  Wow.  No misconceptions about who leads that ship, there.
  • The Rebuilt Machine, My Name Is Drew, and Mandelion Monolith at Mojo Main.
  • Atlas, Two Dads, Larhonda, and Left and Right at 1984 (newish 80s themed barcade on 4th street, west of Little Italy). $5.
  • Tenacious D at Festival Pier.
  • Jazz jam session at The Nomad Bar at 9th & Orange.  Every Saturday, 4-7:30pm, FREE.
  • Clark Park Festival in West Philly, featuring the City Wide Specials, and many more local bands that are probably decent, if you're up there. FREE, all day.
  • Shawn Colvin at WCL Philly.
