Weekday events of note, 6/25-6/28:

Monday 6/25:

  • Rockford Park summer concert series, featuring the usual mix of jazz and folk bands that play this sort of thing.  Still, sometimes that makes the perfect date night - what else is going on on a Monday night?  6:30-8pm, every Monday through mid-August. FREE.
  • Movie Monday at the Trocadero: Amelie.  21+, $3.  Doors at 6:30, show at 8, arrive before 7 and get a free beer and popcorn.

Tuesday 6/26:
  • Interesting modern jazz show in Newark: the Sunna Gunnlaugs Trio, at the UU Society on Polly Drummond Rd.  $15 in advance, $18 at the door, 7:30pm.  Ticket link here.  They're also playing at An Die Musik in Baltimore on Friday.
  • Trolley Square Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 4-7:30pm thru late Sept. Next to Logan House.
  • Beach: Rehoboth Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 12-4 thru late Oct. At lower end of Reho. Ave.
  • Hot Tuna at the Grand, with Steve Kimmock.
  • Free showing of Some Like It Hot at the Queen, 8pm.
  • Purling Hiss, who toured with Wilco and Dr. Dog this year, at Johnny Brenda's.  With The Young and Far Out Fangtooth.  Spinning records downstairs: DJ Science Face, better known as the bass player in War On Drugs.
  • Beastie Boys tribute show at The Fire: Don McCloskey, Kuf Knotz, Nico the Beast, and more. $10
  • Oh! Pears, recently returned from a European tour and featuring members of Pattern Is Movement, at PhilaMOCA. $5

Wednesday 6/27:
  • Wilmington Farmers' Market, Wednesdays 10-2 thru mid-Oct. On Rodney Square.
  • The ever-popular Grilled Cheese & Craft Beer Tasting at the Queen.
  • Fiona Apple at the Tower Theatre.
  • The worthwhile Sub-Pop band The Head and The Heart open for the insufferable DMB at Susquehanna Center. 
  • Fishbone with Black Landlord at Underground Arts.  Because I have no idea where that is in Philly (and I call myself an events blogger!), here's the ticket link: http://www.ticketfly.com/event/124491
  • 4W5 Blues Jam at the Queen. 7pm, free.
  • Motion City Soundtrack, The Henry Clay People, and The Front Bottoms at Union Transfer.
  • Toy Soldiers play a free, all ages show at Pastorius Park in Philly (I want to say that's in South Philly, but I'm not completely sure). 
  • For classical fans: Philadelphia Orchestra plays Beethoven's 9th at the Mann.

Thursday 6/28:
  • Cool Spring Farmers' Market, Thursdays 4-8pm thru late Oct.  At the park at 10th & Jackson.
  • Village Fresh Farmers' Market, Thursdays 3-6pm thru late Aug. Concord Ave & Market St.
  • Arden Shakespeare Gild presents Henry IV, part 1, at the field theater in Arden. 7:30-10:30, $10 ($5 for kids).
  • The Dirty Clergy, Scrapple Creek Runners, Zane Campbell and the Gravel Pit Ramblers, and Mothers Disciple at Mojo Main.
  • Beach: Trombone Shorty at the Bottle & Cork.
  • Norah Jones, who recently tweeted that she's a big Dr. Dog fan, at the Mann.  Sasha Dobson opens.
  • Sanctuary, an Iron Maiden tribute band, at the North Star.  Almost sold-out as of 6/19.
  • Paula Cole at the Queen Theatre.
  • Cuddle Magic and Midtown Dickens at Johnny Brenda's.
  • Karaoke at Mojo Main. 9pm, free
