Weekday events, 8/20-8/23:

The blog has been on autopilot for the past month, but I'm back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday 8/20:
  • Showing of Woody Allen's 2012 film, To Rome With Love, at Theatre N. 7pm, $7.  I'd say it's worth seeing.  It's far from his best (the different stories don't all end sensically), but far from his worst, with just enough laughs (and Penelope Cruz looking uber-hot as a high-end call girl) to make it worth $7.
  • Movie Monday at the Trocadero. 21+, $3. Doors at 6:30, show at 8, arrive before 7 and get a free beer and popcorn.
Tuesday 8/21:
  • Low-brow Cinema at the Queen presents: Saint Misbehavin' - The Wavy Gravy Movie. Doors at 7, movie at 8, FREE.  Expect hippies.  Movie description:
'Beginning with Woodstock ‘99, director Michelle Esrick has spent ten years documenting the life of Wavy Gravy. Saint Misbehavin’ journeys from the hills of California to the Himalayan Mountains to reveal the life of this one of a kind servant to humanity. Saint Misbehavin’ reveals Wavy to be so much more than the tie-dyed entertainer and ice-cream flavor namesake that often defines him in the popular imagination. Satirist Paul Krasner describes Wavy as “The illegitimate son of Harpo Marx and Mother Theresa, conceived one starry night on a spiritual whoopie cushion,” to which Wavy replied, “Some people tell me I’m a saint, I tell them I’m Saint Misbehavin’."'
  • Hezekiah Jones at PhilaMOCA, $5. https://www.facebook.com/events/135087426630918/
  • Trolley Square Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 4-7:30pm thru late Sept. Next to Logan House.
  • Beach: Rehoboth Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 12-4 thru late Oct. At lower end of Reho. Ave.
Wednesday 8/22:
  • Happy Hour yoga and craft beer tasting at the Queen.  Concurrently, there will be a grilled cheese and craft beer tasting.  I think I'd pick the grilled cheese over the downward dog. 6pm.
  • Wilmington Farmers' Market, Wednesdays 10-2 thru mid-Oct. On Rodney Square.
  • Bike & hike at Hagley Museum, 3 mile circuit. Every Wednesday through late August. 5-8pm, $2 (free for members and children).
  • 4W5 Blues Jam at the Queen. 7pm, free.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thursday 8/23:
  • Talking Heads tribute band Naive Melodies at the Queen.
  • Spark summer music series at Kelly's Logan House, feat: The Keefs, Butterscotch Grim, and The Headies.  9pm-1am, FREE. Do try not to be put off by the totally cheeseball graphic.  This looks like it should be on the cover of a book marketed to 12 year old girls on how to rock out in a band.  No actual band in 2012 looks like this:

  • Because I've kind of neglected this particular scene: Lesbian Dance Party at Mojo Main.  9pm, $5.
  • Brian Jonestown Massacre at Union Transfer, Philly, $20.
  • Cool Spring Farmers' Market, Thursdays 4-8pm thru late Oct. At the park at 10th & Jackson.
  • Village Fresh Farmers' Market, Thursdays 3-6pm thru late Aug. Concord Ave & Market St.
  • Karaoke at Mojo Main. 9pm, free
