Monday:

  • Showing of Trishna, a modern version of Tess of the D'Urbervilles set in India and starring the stunning female lead from Slumdog Millionaire, at Theatre N. 7pm, $7.
  • Chris Harford and the Band of Changes, featuring Dean Ween and Eric Slick from Dr. Dog, at Johnny Brenda's.  Good Philly bands Oh! Pears and Toy Soldiers open.  21+, doors at 8, $10.
  • Movie Monday at the Trocadero: Wayne's World, costumes encouraged. 21+, $3. Doors at 6:30, show at 8, arrive before 7 and get a free beer and popcorn.

Tuesday:
  • Rooftop movie at the Shop-Rite at Christina Landing.  Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Bring your own chairs.  7:30pm, $3-$5.
  • Opening of new exhibit at Winterthur: "Uncorked! Wine, Objects, & Tradition".
    • "Join us in celebrating this delightful beverage with a new exhibition created to explore the stunning range of objects associated with the history of wine drinking, especially in Britain and America. The exhibition will share some of the fascinating and incredibly broad range of wine-related materials—from wineglasses and cellarets to song sheets and paintings—and, in total, will include more than 300 objects." Exhibit runs through Jan.
  • Joan Osborne acoustic duo set at the Queen. 8pm.
  • Beta Hi-Fi Music Festival at the Queen Theatre. Wednesday's line-up, from 7-11pm, is: Eighteenth Hour, The Districts, Darin Rex, The Naked Sun, and Sylvan Wolfe. FREE.
  • Trolley Square Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 4-7:30pm thru late Sept. Next to Logan House.
  • Beach: Rehoboth Farmers' Market, Tuesdays 12-4 thru late Oct. At lower end of Reho. Ave.

Wednesday:

  • DIY show at the Chris White Gallery in the Shipley Lofts: The Ascetic Junkies ("noisy Americana pop-rock" from Portland), and new local band Sylvan Wolfe.  Plus one more band TBA.  7-10pm, $5. Portion of bar sales benefit Shipley Village CDC. Link to preview music.
  • Beta Hi-Fi Music Festival at the Queen Theatre. 7-11pm, see link for list of bands.
  • The Strapping Field Hands and The Spinning Leaves play a free show on Rittenhouse Square. All ages, show starts at 7pm.
  • Wilmington Farmers' Market, Wednesdays 10-2 thru mid-Oct. On Rodney Square.
  • FINAL Bike & hike at Hagley Museum, 3 mile circuit. Every Wednesday through late August. 5-8pm, $2 (free for members and children).
  • 4W5 Blues Jam at the Queen. 7pm, free.

Thursday:
  • For those interested in activism, there's a showing of award-winning documentary ReGeneration at Theatre N.
"Narrated by Ryan Gosling, the film features three intersecting stories of students, parents, and artists all looking for their place in society. Together they capture the thoughts and feelings of today's struggling generation as some of the worlds leading scholars, activists, and media personalities provide their insight into the ideas and movements that can inspire change." Expect a lot of coverage of the Occupy movement, as well.  7:30pm, $10.
  • Final Shipyard Shops summer concert of the year: Red Alert Band (jazz, blues, mo-town). 7-9pm, FREE.
  • Beta Hi-Fi Music Festival at the Queen. 7-11pm, FREE. See link for list of bands.
  • Rebirth Brass Band with New Sound Brass Band at the Blockley (Philly).
  • WAR with George Clinton/Funkadelic, Dazz Band, Ohio Players, and Barkay, at Dell Music Center.  $25-$40. Ticket link.
  • Cool Spring Farmers' Market, Thursdays 4-8pm thru late Oct. At the park at 10th & Jackson.  Featuring a performance by E Shawn Qaissaunee and Laura Cheadle.
  • FINAL Village Fresh Farmers' Market, Thursdays 3-6pm thru late Aug. Concord Ave & Market St.
