New Brunswick NJ's fabled Court Tavern closes after 30 years (a la Newark's The Stone Balloon).

There's an article about it in The Village Voice - it's a good read: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/2012/01/court_tavern_closed_new_jersey_indie.php

I have a friend from New Brunswick so I'd heard of this place, but had no idea how big it was.  I always imagined it was like the Deer Park, though now I realize it's much more like The Stone Balloon, large college town locale, ballyhooed closing, and all.  (Although, to be fair, this place got many more "up and coming" acts than the Balloon did, as one of a very few mid-sized rock venues between Philly and New York).
