General Events:
  • Brand new: Fresh Friday Market on Nemours Plaza, downtown.  This replaces the Rodney Square market that has just closed, apparently for good.
  • Carousel Park Farmers' Market (Rt. 7 in Pike Creek), Fridays 2-6pm. Thru late Sept.
  • Showings of Why Stop Now (SNL cast comedy) and The Imposter at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
  • The Kennett Flash is holding a fundraiser for their venue, with performance by lauded r&b cover band Good Foot.  Doors at 7, music at 8. $21.
Concerts:
  • Echo Mission, Mandelion, and Robot House at Logan House. 9pm, $5.

  • 2nd annual Green Fair at Silverside Church in N. Wilm. Mike McGrath, of NPR's You Bet Your Garden (the man with the very strident voice on Saturday mornings, either before or after Car Talk, I can't remember) will be the special guest speaker.  10am-2pm, FREE. More info.
  • Trolley Square Oktoberfest, featuring kegs and steins of Sam Adams Oktoberfest.  Participating bars are: Catherine Rooney's, CR Hooligan's, Famous Tim's, Kid Shelleen's, and Scratch Magoo's.  No word from area bars that do not involve someone's name. 5pm-1am.
  • Showings of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (11am, for kids), The Imposter, and Why Stop Now (SNL cast comedy) at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
  • Dr. Who marathon at Mojo Main. 9pm, free.
  • Beach: Lewes Farmers' Market, 8-noon. In historic area, thru late Sept.

  • Gable Music Ventures starts off a new season of their "The 6" singer-songwriter showcase. At the Chris White Gallery, downtown. 7pm, $6-$7. More info on show and songwriters.

  • 2nd iteration of the Taiwan Film Festival, at the Delaware Museum of Art. 1pm. One film shown: Let The Wind Carry Me, about Asian cinematographer Mark Lee. The films are free; you may need to pay entrance to the museum (it's not clear from their website).
  • Newark Community Day, Main St., 11-4.  Go early and then visit the below:
  • Co-Op Farmers' Market, Sundays 10-2. East Main St, Newark. Thru mid-Nov.
  • Cult movie night at Mojo Main: Harold & Maude. 9pm, FREE.

  • School of Rock presents: Women Who Rock at the Queen (covers of all female artists).
