Monday 9/24:

  • For the environmentally-minded with the morning free: At the Dupont Environmental Ed. Center (riverfront): "Come explore and test the health of the waters surrounding DEEC as part of World Water Monitoring Day and in celebration of National Estuaries Day. Join thousands of people from over 85 countries testing the health of local waters - results will be entered into an international database."  11am-1pm, free, no registration required.
  • IN Wilmington week continues with "Arts TastIN" at the Delaware History Museum on Market St., with multi-genre musical and theatre performances throughout the night. Lite fare, cash bar. 6:30-9pm, $5 (cash only). http://inwilmingtonde.com/events/artstastin

  • Arrested Development 20th anniversary tour (so the early 90's band, not the tv show) at the Queen Theatre. Ticket link.
  • Alex Vans (folk pop artist from DC), Ben Rogers, and Jack Devine at Mojo 13.   8pm.
  • Showing of The Story of Film: An Odyssey, parts 5 & 6, at Theatre N. 7pm, $7. More info on film.

  • Folky Allen Stone with soulful Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds at WCL Philly. $15-$20.
  • Movie Monday at the Trocadero: The Cabin in the Woods, 2011.  21+, $3.  Doors at 6:30, show at 8, arrive before 7 and get a free beer and popcorn.

  • The Robert Cray Band and Kenny Wayne Shepherd at the Grand Opera House. $45-$53. Ticket link.
  • Twin Shadow and Niki and the Dove at Union Transfer. $15. Ticket link.
  • Presented by the Green Willow Folk Club: Ian Walker and Ian Bruce, Scottish folk musicians, at the Chelsea Tavern. 7:30pm, $15-$17.

Wednesday 9/26:
  • Fringe Festival Preview Party at the Queen Theatre. "Artists from across the U.S. will offer 2-3 minute previews of their Fringe performances." 7:30pm, FREE. More info.
  • R. Stevie Moore at Johnny Brenda's (or as my mother recently called it: 'that little cafe on South street'.  It is neither little, a cafe, or anywhere near South street). $10-$12.
  • Tim Williams cd release show at WCL Philly, with opener Jenn Bostic who's from Delaware. All ages, 8pm, $20 includes admission and copy of his cd.
  • Jason Anderson with local buzz band Hop Along at Kung Fu Necktie. $5.
  • 4W5 Blues Jam at the Queen. 7pm, free.

Thursday 9/27:

  • Art Salad at the DCCA.  Lunchtime modern art discussion.  Noon, FREE.  Bring a bag lunch or arrive by 11:30am to order from Cosi.
  • Biden Breast Health Initiative benefit concert at the Queen, featuring Katie Dill, Alycat, Jessica Latshaw, Iva, Evangelina Guajardo, Rachel Schain, and Laura Cheadle. 7pm, $40.
  • Sixpence None the Richer at the Queen, downstairs. Reilly and Jessica Knapp open. $25-$33. Ticket link.
  • Panzer Division at Mojo 13. 8pm.
  • "Think & Drink" at Ernest & Scott Taproom, with a talk on the history of beer by Hagley Museum staff.  (Part of IN Wilmington week). 6pm. $20 gets you 5 beer samples, 5 food samples, and the talk. Facebook link.
  • Day 1 of Film Brothers' Festival of Shorts at Theatre N. Short films from around the world. Reception at 5:30, films start at 7pm. More info on festival.  Tickets are $20, but you get this: 
"Thursday night's ticket price includes a 5:30 pm reception at the Delaware Breast Cancer Coaltion with beer from Dogfish Head Brewery, wine from Frank's Wine and finger food from Chelsea Tavern, who will host an after party with Dogfish Head specials."

  • Indie film series at the Kennett Flash: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. BYOB (may be a small corkage fee). Doors at 7, show at 7:30, $5.
  • Sondheim's Follies In Concert, a fundraiser for the New Candlelight Theatre, at the NCT. 6-10pm, $30-$45.  This may go all weekend - I'm seeing conflicting reports. More info.
