This weekend, 5/18-5/20:

NOTE!  I will have been traveling when this list publishes.  Therefore I compiled this weeks in advance and won't have made my usual last minute corrections.  If you decide to go to any of these events, your best bet is to check with the venue to make sure the event is still on / not sold-out.

FRIDAY 5/18:

General Events:

Concerts:
  • "The 6" singer-songwriter showcase at the Chris White Gallery, 7th & Shipley streets, Wilmington.  The 8th installment of Gable Music Ventures' series will feature 6 male songwriters, both local and not.  7pm.  Facebook invite page.
  • The Last Valorians and Devolver at Mojo Main.
  • Mad-Sweet Pangs at the Queen.
  • The Cock-Sparrer show at Union Transfer is long sold-out.

SATURDAY 5/19:

General Events:
Concerts:
  • At Arden's Gild Hall: Lukas Nelson & the Promise of the Real (that is a mouth full).  The band definitely has some accomplishments under their belt, though: read about them here. Opening is 61 North. $12-$15.
  • Justin Townes Earle at the TLA.
  • Hall & Oates at the Tower, part of the MGK anniversary show.
  • Reggie Watts (who I only recognize from that one commercial, to be honest) at The Trocadero.

  • Jazz jam session at The Nomad Bar at 9th & Orange.  Every Saturday, 4-7:30pm, FREE.

  • Vegetarian Festival at Newark Natural Foods Co-Op, E. Main St., 1pm.
  • MacHomer at The Grand. (The voice of Homer doing Macbeth.  I think.)
  • Showings of A Bag of Hammers, A Separation , and La Fille Mal Gardee (taped ballet performance) at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
  • Bellydance matinee at Mojo Main.
Concerts:
  • Damien Jurado at Johnny Brenda's. $12.
