FRIDAY 5/4:

General Events:

  • Art Is Tasty event at the Delaware Art Museum - a half hour lecture on art, plus lunch. Noon, $8.
  • Alternatives Handmade Market at Del. Center for Contemporary Arts. Starting at 4pm, FREE.
  • Opening day for the Kennett Square Farmers Market. Fridays, 2-6pm.
  • Showings of Boy and The Kid With a Bike at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
Concerts:
  • Get the Led Out (Zeppelin tribute) at the Queen.
  • Caveman with Ape School (feat. Eric Slick) and The Homophones at Milkboy Philly.

SATURDAY 5/5:

General Events:
  • World Labyrinth Day (a celebration of labryinths. Not the David Bowie movie) at the Delaware Art Museum.  Meets in the museum's outdoor labyrinth at 1pm.  Free, but donations accepted to help with the labyrinth's upkeep. 
  • White Clay Creek Fest in Newark. Noon-4pm, WCC State Park (the flyer doesn't mention which entrance - probably the Carpenter area).  Live music, bird demo, food, face painting, etc. Park entrance fees in effect.
  • Showings of Boy and The Kid With a Bike at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
Concerts:
  • RamJam festival in Elkton, featuring: Mad-Sweet Pangs, Mean Lady, New Sweden, Bullbuckers, Villains Like You, Universal Funk Order, The Splashing Pearls, Fat Daddy Has Been, and more. Tickets are $35 in advance, $50 date of sale. Facebook event details.
  • David Bromberg at The Grand.
  • Whirled Peas at White Clay Creek Fest, sometime between noon and 4pm, probably at the Carpenter area.  Sorry to be vague, I'm just going off of the flyer that's online.
  • GrandMothers of Invention at the Queen. Yes, this is Zappa related: "The GrandMothers of Invention are the only Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention alumni who have been consistently performing the music of the maestro since 2003."
  • The Cranberries at the Electric Factory.
  • We Were Promised Jetpacks at Union Transfer.
  • Minas (percussion-based Brazilian music.  No idea if it's good, but I like the sound of that) at the Kennett Flash.
  • Jazz jam session at The Nomad Bar at 9th & Orange.  Every Saturday, 4-7:30pm, FREE.

SUNDAY 5/6:

General Events:
  • Opening day for Newark's Co-Op Farmers' Market. 10-2, east Main St.
  • Showings of Boy, The Kid With a Bike, and (recorded ballet) The Bright Spot at Theatre N. http://www.theatern.org/Films
Concerts:
  • School of Rock prog show at the Queen.
  • Future Islands at First Unitarian Church, with locals Ladies Auxilliary.
