Mr. Smith goes to... Tilton Park, Delaware?

According to the Cool Spring / Tilton Park Historic District group, Wilmington's Tilton Park was once under consideration to be the Capitol of the yet-to-be-formed United States, at the time of the 13 colonies.  That sounds really hard to believe, but apparently there's a plaque on the Broom Street side of the park that backs up the claim.  Who knew?  We, too, could have all been living on streets that are named after letters and are a bitch to navigate.  Happy Independence Day!
