Unbelievably, The Grand Opera House has scored the Pixies.

They'll play on November 6th.  Tickets go on sale Friday, July 15th.  They will *definitely* sell out, considering the band usually plays much, much larger places.

This has to be one of those "let's play in all 50 states" deals, right?  Otherwise, why would the Pixies  go from playing arenas to an opera house in Delaware?  Whatever the reason, good for The Grand.  They don't book many rock shows, but they book good ones.

The Queen Theatre, meanwhile, is disappointing me with their bookings.  I recently learned that they're working with a promoter who is running an almost pay-to-play deal with local bands.  As long as the local band doesn't completely suck, the promoter promises to put them on a bill, with the caveat that they have to try to sell tickets themselves to friends and family.  Oh, and these tickets are only $16-$20 a pop.  Sorry, that qualifies as a scheme in my book.
